Clinic Director

Monica Mulligan

Monica Mulligan joined Gateway Dental Centre of Seattle as Office Administrator in 1995.

A Seattle native, Ms. Mulligan has over forty-one years experience in the administration of health care benefits and dental practice management.

Ms. Mulligan has also been instrumental in writing legislation designed to assist patients in obtaining rightful benefits and is an expert in managed dental care design and delivery.

Ms. Mulligan holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Asian Studies and has traveled extensively through the Far East. She is affiliated with the Kalakala Art Deco Ferry Restoration project and enjoys gourmet cooking

Hygienists

Randy Potts, RDH
Randy joined the staff as a registered dental hygienist 5 years ago upon his graduation from Lake Washington Technical College with a degree in Dental Hygiene. Randy, his wife, and two children live in Everett.

Douglas Prather, RDH B.S.
Douglas graduated from the University of New Mexico in 1999 receiving a bachelor's degree in dental hygiene. He completed an externship in special needs patients at Kerry Tinley children's hospital in Albuquerque New Mexico. He served as a clinical instructor at the University of New Mexico dental hygiene department. From there, he began an immune compromised dental clinic at the University of New Mexico which later added a special needs patient department. Outside of the university, he has been active with the community donating time to "health smile program" educating children and parents on the importance of good oral care, and screening children in need of treatment. Douglas has a year of experience in periodontal services but enjoys working in a complete care family practice setting.

Each member of our staff has an important role in assuring that your every dental need is met. It is the goal of each staff member, working together, to make your dental care experience pleasant and to establish and maintain a long-term professional relationship with you.

Your Dental Hygienist works closely with your Dentist to plan your oral hygiene program in the interest of protecting your dental health. Regular visits with your Dental Hygienist will enhance your health. Routine examinations, which are a part of your oral hygiene program, help detect problems in the early stages. Your Dental Hygienist monitors your progress, supervises your recall schedule, keeps comprehensive records about each of your oral hygiene visits and is in close communication with your Dentist and consulting Specialists. Your Dental Hygienist is a highly trained professional health care provider who is licensed by the state of Washington. Continuing education requirements, monitored by the state of Washington, assure that your Dental Hygienist has access to state-of-the-art patient care information.

Your Dental Assistant spends most of each day working directly in the operatory with your Dentist. Using the "four-handed" dentistry method, your Dental Assistant helps to streamline the delivery of all dental treatment that is provided to you. Your Dental Assistant is trained in the delivery of dental procedures and is dedicated to your comfort. Your dental assistant, in coordination with your dentist, provides a myriad of services in the office that pertain specifically to, and result in, an efficient accommodation of your schedule and dental needs. Certified by the Dental Assistant National Board, your dental assistant must fulfill ongoing continuing education requirements to assure that their assisting skills keep pace with the most current dental techniques.

The Dental Administrative Department is comprised of Patient Service Specialists and our Front Desk Coordinator. With extensive training in dental administrative technique, the individuals in this department assist you with appointment scheduling, confirmation of your insurance coverage, referral to consulting specialists, record keeping management and protection of proprietary patient information.

The Clinic Director, working directly with your Dentist, consulting Specialists, and your Dental Hygienist, assists you in planning and prioritizing your dental treatment, including the presentation of anticipated dental benefits and definition of patient out-of-pocket expenses. The Director oversees the daily administrative operations of Gateway Dental Centre and serves as patient advocate with all insurance carriers. Our Clinic Director is fully dedicated to excellence in patient care services. Additionally, our Clinic Director monitors compliance with State and Federal Regulators to assure patient safety. Gateway Dental Centre patients and prospective patients are invited to call upon our Clinic Director for assistance with special needs issues, insurance problems and other questions.
